Culture can create relevance faster than any media budget, but turning that relevance into enduring commercial value requires more than borrowing the right aesthetic. This session explores how brands can build with communities rather than simply market to them—and whether cultural authenticity, global scale and billion-dollar ambition can genuinely coexist.

Bonita is Director, Partnerships at EssenceMediacom (WPP Media), where she continues to lead the agency's inclusive planning and community media proposition. She's also the founder of Beyond Reach, a strategic consultancy at the intersection of culture, community media and commercial strategy, and Brand Partnership Director for Recessland, an independent cultural festival. Bonita co-leads Mosaic, WPP Media's ethnicity, culture and religion ERG, and writes Take Notes, an essay-format newsletter on media and culture.
Her work reframes community media as commercial planning architecture rather than a CSR afterthought — grounded in behavioural science and a decade in media, starting at MediaCom. She's been recognised on Media Week's 30 Under 30 and Future 100, shortlisted for the IPA iList, featured in The Drum's Changemakers, and named a finalist for the Black British Business Awards' Rising Star in Arts and Media.
